Carolien and her guitar made their debut on stage in 2008, where Carolien sang her self-written song 'Zunneschien' at minority-language song contest Liet, in Friesland (NL). Since that first performance, she made it two more times to the final of Liet. In 2009, Carolien sang the beautiful 'Zoemer in Frieslaand', which earned her a place in the Frisian Top 100. One year later she made it to theatre De Harmonie for the third time in a row, together with her band De Sluus and the song 'Janis', about Janis Joplin's album Pearl.
Now, ten years after her very first gig, warm guitar riffs, strong melodies and a sensitive, clear voice will take you on a journey through inspiring songs. For performances in a more international context, Carolien also adds a hint of Dutch music culture to her set-list. Expect self-written songs in Dutch dialect, surprising international covers from songs the crowd has almost forgotten and older and newer classics. All mixed with some Hunneman-flavour!
Carolien writes the lyrics of her own songs in Stellingwerfs, a minority language which is spoken in the south-east of Friesland, The Netherlands. This language has a lot in common with Drents, and other Saxon regional languages. Carolien sings contemporary songs, which make a fairly old dialect a little more 'hip' again. She delivers a young, fresh and clear sound in the world of minority languages.
